Amersfoort is, to its annual 1.2 million visitors, one of the biggest surprises of The Netherlands. The medieval city with its many monuments breathes a rich history whilst at the same time bursting with modern life. There are plenty of recreational opportunities for all ages, from a visit to the zoo to a boat trip on the canals and lakes.
