The Peasants

Take a look in advance

When free-spirited peasant girl Jagna is forced to marry the much older wealthy peasant Boryna, she must let go of her love for his son Antek. Her life increasingly becomes a struggle for her own independence in a village full of jealousy, gossip, feuds and an entrenched patriarchy.

The makers of Loving Vincent once again drew inspiration from works of art for their new film, The Peasants. In this film adaptation of the Nobel Prize for Literature-winning book "Chlopi" by Wladyslaw Reymont, the hand-painted(!) images are based on works from the 19th and 20th centuries by Polish artists such as Józef Chelmonski, Ferdynand Ruszczyc and Leon Wyczólkowski.
