One more time the iconic 1974 World Cup, but in the theater. Exactly fifty years later, the Dutch soccer heroes of yesteryear will look back on the tournament that brought the Dutch team eternal fame, but just short of the world title. On June 28, Willem van Hanegem, Arie Haan, Wim Rijsbergen, René and Willy van de Kerkhof, Rinus Israël and Kees van Ierssel will come to Flint to look back at that World Cup that is so etched in our memories.

The performance is scheduled for June 28 for a reason. On this evening, there is no match at the European Football Championships'24 in Germany. The Dutch will play the final group game, against Austria, shortly before, on June 25.

Fifty years earlier, in 1974, the Dutch had the perfect opportunity to become World Cup champions. In West Germany, the Dutch team of captain Johan Cruijff caused a furor with the highly praised 'total soccer'. In the final against the host country, the crowning glory should have followed, but things turned out differently. Still, the 1974 World Cup will go down in the books as iconic, as the breakthrough of the Netherlands as a leading global soccer country. 50 years later, the tournament comes to life for one last time in the setting of the theater. Of the 12 selection players still living, seven are in the theater. The rest live abroad and/or have other commitments.

Presenter Eddy van der Ley takes the heroes of old, through unique images, on a sentimental journey. This leads to surprising answers to piercing questions. About the creation of 'total soccer', the legendary match against top favorite Brazil, the riots, the hand of national coach 'Iron' Rinus Michels and the how and why of the lost final. After the break, there will be an opportunity for visitors to ask questions and a meet & greet afterwards.
