The CollectieCentrum Nederland (CC NL) in Amersfoort will open in 2021. In this building of no less than 31,500 m2, the collections of the Netherlands Open Air Museum, Paleis Het Loo, the Rijksmuseum and the National Cultural Heritage Agency are stored. A selection of these works 'in storage' will soon be on display together with objects by the Belgian artist Hans Op de Beeck (Turnhout,1969).

He is known for his monochromatic gray sculptures, large installations, drawings and videos. In these, he raises subjects such as human perception and the beauty of "the object. Hans Op de Beeck shows the viewer non-existent but recognizable places, moments and extras that seem to have been taken from actual daily life, and in doing so tries to capture the tragicomic absurdity of our existence in images. Based on various themes, Op de Beeck's works will be shown, along with works from CC NL that tie in with them. The works of art and objects from the four national collections offer an extra layer in the various staging with their stories.

Second location
In addition to the exhibition at Kunsthal KAdE, Hans Op de Beeck conceived a new "experiential installation" for the Elleboogkerk on Langegracht in Amersfoort, as he has created several in a wide variety of locations over the past twenty years. In the Elleboogkerk, this is a winter water landscape with a horizon. Op de Beeck: "Water not only reflects in a literal sense, but figuratively stimulates reflection, the reflective, contemplative thinking about being and the world." This installation can be visited separately.

The works by Op de Beeck and a large number of loans from CC NL and the installation in the Elleboog Church will be on view together at Kunsthal KAdE from January 27, 2024.
