Pull out your best dress and slip those fancy pumps on your feet. We asked our locals on Facebook and Instagram where in Amersfoort you can dine in style. And out came these eight culinary gems!

MAY

Marco Blok is at the helm at restaurant MEI; he captured a Michelin star with restaurant Bloks in Amersfoort. At MEI, food from the season comes first. This makes an evening of dining there always surprising.

They prefer to work with organic and local products that have a good story. The dishes are uncomplicated. Embellishment is not necessary, as the fresh products play the main role. No idea what to choose? On Fridays and Saturdays you can be culinary surprised by choosing the weekend menu.

The Aubergerie

The Aubergerie has been awarded a BIB Gourmand by Michelin. In short, that means; exceptionally good food at acceptable prices. They serve culinary dishes based on French cuisine. Beautiful taste bombs. Do you like something unique? Opt for the surprise menu aka the incubator of the kitchen

De Saffraan

AtDe Saffraan, awarded a Michelin star in the past, local products are used as much as possible. You can compose the menu with your favorites, but personally I like to be surprised. And you can do that through the Chefs menu or the Garden menu for the vegetarians among us. Please note; these menus are only available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Michelin Guide writes about De Saffraan: "here cooks a chef who has mastered innovative techniques. That bodes well! In addition, the restaurant is located on their own boat with a lovely terrace.

The Monk Dam

In one of the eyecatchers of Amersfoort; the watergate Monnikendam you will find the eponymous restaurant De Monnikendam. Here you can choose from a four, five or six course changing surprise menu. Do you really want to surprise your loved one? In the Riddertoren you can have a romantic dinner with a crackling fire and romantic candlelight. And... you can also get married there!

Merlot

At Merlot, French cuisine is the base. But you probably already guessed that. The ingredients are fresh and local as much as possible. Also nice, there are vega options. If you go for the Tasting Menu then you can choose from four to seven courses.

Want a complete surprise? Indulge yourself with the Merlot package. Nice to know: the cuisine of Merlot has been appreciated for years by Michelin, Lekker, Gaultmillau and Grootspraak.

Tollius

At Restaurant Tollius it is all about experience, surprise, sharing and tasting. This vision brings every guest to ecstasy. Each season challenges the chefs to work with products and ingredients that the season gives.

The chef at Tollius, Barry, creates dishes that are high on flavor, bold, and therefore make guests experience a taste sensation time after time. In collaboration with the serving brigade, flavors from Tollius cuisine go hand in hand with their great wines.

The Mountain Pavilion

The Mountain Pavilion is great for lunch, dinner or drinks. Enjoy 'joi de vivre' and relaxed service, but with comfortable chairs, good glassware and enough privacy for conversation. As The Mountain Pavilion itself says, 'Feel good gastronomy without frills in a pleasant and casual atmosphere'.

The restaurant has also been awarded a Bib-Gourmand by Michelin stating, "...The great menu of choices, fresh fish from the counter, a classic or bar food to share? A dinner at this luminous pavilion, where the art deco elements and spacious terrace catch the eye, involves difficult choices. But whether it's ceviche or fried salmon fillet, the chef peppers his classic base with original ideas. A business with taste!...."

RAW

Meat lovers fond of the typical rich taste of aged beef from dual-purpose cows are at RAUW 's beck and call. These include a hefty côte de boeuf that is silky smooth or a chateaubriand enriched with fried foie gras.

The chefs at RAUW grill various cuts of beef over a very powerful heat source so that juiciness and fine bite are guaranteed. For those who prefer raw meat, there is fine steak tartare served both as an appetizer and as a main course with classic garnishes.
